Rental Requirements
To rent a car from our La Fortuna location, please ensure you have the following documents and meet the requirements:
- A valid and original driver’s license issued at least 2 years ago. This license is valid for 90 days in Costa Rica, starting from the entry date stamped on your passport. If your license is in a non-Latin alphabet such as Hebrew or Mandarin, you'll need an International Driver's License. We do not accept provisional licenses or photocopies.
- Present a valid and original identity card and/or passport. If using a passport, it must have the entry stamp to Costa Rica.
- Have a Credit Card (MasterCard, VISA, Discover, or American Express) with a printed name matching the cardholder's ID. This card will be used for a refundable deposit of US$500 - US$1,000 depending on the car rented. Debit cards and cash deposits are not accepted.
- The minimum age for renting a car is 21 years old.
Request, Modify, Cancellation, No Show or Early Return Bookings
Reservation / Booking
- To make a reservation we need the following information:
- Name and Surname
- Car category
- Date, hour and place of delivery (Hotel or Flight Number)
- Date, hour and place of collection (Hotel or Flight Number)
- Extra services to include, such as: extra coverages, accessories, drop off fees or one way rentals, etc.
Modification of Reservation
- A booking can be modified up to 72 hours before beginning the rental (upon availability) with no penalty. Changes in pick up location may have extra fees.
Cancellation or No-Show
- Penalty of 2 days of rent without insurance, for late cancellations 72 hours before the start of the service, or for a No-Show. We will consider a No-Show when a client has 2 hours of delay picking up the car and has not contacted us.
Early Return of Rental Vehicle
- In the event that the rented vehicle is returned earlier than the agreed date, a partial refund applies.
Conditions of Payment
- At the moment of the rental, the full rental cost, plus extra expenses will be charged to your credit card.
General Insurance and Coverage Conditions
- Please refer to the Coverage section.
- Violations of the Costa Rica Traffic Legislation are full responsibility of the rentee.
